Nicki is getting along carrying Omar in her belly. Dr. Fahrenback set a date of around July 1970 when the baby will come out. It was a Sunday when Nicki complained that she is having diarrhea because she keeps on going to the bathroom. After a while I have a suspicion it is more than that. She is having a baby! The show Nicki said is there so definitely she is going to give birth. I called Joe and Cora to help us. They came and Joe drove us to the St. Joseph Hospital. They took Nicki to the labor room. I was in the waiting room all by myself with a big jigsaw puzzle on the table. I started working on the puzzle. I can hear Nicki screaming. Wow. I hardly started on the jigsaw puzzle when a nurse showed up in the waiting room. She said you have a baby! I ask if it is a boy or girl. She said I don't know. Lets go and take a look. So we hurriedly walk to the delivery room. A nurse inside help the baby upside down. He got a lot of black hair and crying his heart out. I did not know the name yet but it will be Omar. I named him after Gen. Omar Bradley distinguished general in WWII being named General of the Army and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His middle name is Pacifico after my father. To my regret our second son did not have a middle name and he accused me of that. I told Ray that his middle name is del Rosario but he is not appeased.
We took Omar home in our modest but clean apartment. We managed to buy an old baby crib. Omar was a good baby. Nicki fussed at him and he developed a rush from Nicki rubbing his behind. The doctor told Nicki to stop doing that. One day Omar with no diaper peed. His urine went up in the air and came down his face. He can hardly breath and cried. I thought that was funny. Omar does not look like Nicki or me. I suppose the Calimbas does not have strong features to be inherited. This is a turning point in our lives. A new baby and moving to another state to pursue graduate school.
